SHiFT codes are 25-character keys ({XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX}) that unlock free in-game rewards: Golden Keys for Sanctuary loot, Diamond Keys for weapon trove rolls, and seasonal cosmetics. Codes are released regularly by Gearbox via official social channels and community megathreads.
Where we get them
Our pipeline runs on n8n, scanning r/borderlands4 and r/borderlands every 6 hours. We extract any 25-character SHiFT code from hot posts, comments and pinned megathreads, then deduplicate against our history before publishing. The Reddit megathread tends to be faster than the official Twitter feed because community members repost codes within minutes.
Why some are flagged "permanent"
Most codes expire 1 to 30 days after posting. A small number — usually evergreen cosmetic codes — are flagged as permanent and never expire. We surface those first because they are zero-risk to redeem any time.
