The Divisioner is one of the first true gear-check bosses in Borderlands 4, and the community has noticed: search interest in divisioner bl4 broke out by more than 4,700 percent in the last 90 days. If you came here from a YouTube comment thread or a Reddit drop-spreadsheet link, this is the no-fluff version.

We are an unofficial fan site. Everything below is verified against Patch 1.4 (2026-04-22).

Type: Boss encounter
Region: Argent Bunker (sub-level B3)
Level range: Lv 32-37 (scales)
Recommended Vault Hunter: Amon, crit-focused
Estimated time: 4-7 minutes first clear, ~90 seconds optimized

How to start the Divisioner BL4 fight

The Divisioner unlocks after the main mission “Signal Decay” hits its third checkpoint. You will get a one-line ECHO from Tannis pointing you at the Argent Bunker entrance west of Stonefall. Drive in, take the freight elevator down two levels, and the fast-travel station inside the bunker will register only after your first wipe (annoying, but consistent in 1.4).

Prerequisites:

  • Story progress: Signal Decay step 3 of 5
  • Recommended level: 32 minimum, 35 to make the second phase forgiving
  • One corrosive weapon, one shock weapon. Bring both.

Step-by-step walkthrough

  1. Clear the elevator antechamber. Six Argent troopers and one shielded brute spawn. Save your action skill — the brute drops a shock relic on a 30 percent roll, which is useful for phase two of the divisioner bl4 fight.
  2. Trigger the door panel. The console near the blast door is a 4-second hold. The Divisioner’s intro cutscene plays for ~12 seconds and is skippable on PC with Esc.
  3. Phase 1 (100 to 70 percent HP). The Divisioner stays grounded. Dump your corrosive damage into its center mass plate. Stay mobile in a wide circle — its hitscan rail attack is telegraphed by a yellow laser sweep.
  4. Phase 2 (70 to 35 percent HP). It splits into two halves that orbit the room independently. Focus the half with the red core glow first; that is the one carrying the shield generator.
  5. Phase 3 (35 to 0 percent HP). Both halves recombine and the shield drops. Burst it down with shock damage. If you survived phase 2 with action skill ready, this is a 4-second window.

Boss mechanics: weaknesses and dodge patterns

  • Elemental weakness: Corrosive in P1 and P3. Shock in P2 (the shield is electric-typed).
  • Dodge: The rail sweep is left-to-right, never right-to-left. Sprint left through it; you cannot outrun it staying still.
  • AoE pulse: Every ~22 seconds. Look for the floor cracks that glow orange. Three steps clears it.
  • Adds: Two trooper waves spawn at 70 percent and 35 percent HP. Ignore them unless you are out of ammo.

The fastest divisioner bl4 clears we have seen all share these traits:

  • Vault Hunter: Amon, crit tree
  • Primary: Corrosive sniper with x2 or higher crit multiplier
  • Secondary: Shock SMG, ideally with a Hyperion or Maliwan accuracy stock
  • Shield: Adaptive (resists whatever element hit you last)
  • Class mod: Anything boosting weapon swap speed — phase transitions are short

Crit-focused Amon with corrosive sniper rolls — see Build Planner for an importable preset.

Rewards

  • The Divided Focus — Legendary SMG, ~13 percent drop rate per kill in 1.4 (community sample n=412 across r/Borderlands and Steam threads)
  • Eridium — guaranteed 180
  • Argent Faction Rep — +400, opens the Bunker Vendor tier
  • Cosmetic head — “Cleaved” head for Amon, ~3 percent drop

Common mistakes

  • Bringing only one element. Phase 2 punishes you hard if you skip shock.
  • Standing in the center of the room. The AoE pulse is centered, not radial.
  • Ignoring the adds in phase 3. They funnel into the shield-down window and chunk you.
  • Trying to skip the cutscene on console — Esc only works on PC. Console players, just let it play.
